Improving our clients’ facilities is at the core of what we do at ICS. But one major factor that can cause hiccups in the process is having enough funding to fuel the project. However, the passing of President Biden’s $1.9 trillion economic relief bill will help jump over these financial hurdles.
Within Biden’s plan, roughly $100 billion will be allocated to K-12 infrastructure improvements. What does this mean for schools? Districts will be able to apply for this funding to be used on shovel-ready projects to modernize their facilities.
So, how do districts secure funding? To help our clients bridge this gap, ICS launched our new Ready, Set, Relief webinar series. The first webinar took place on March 17th and featured the following panelists: Arif Quraishi (President – ICS), Blake Androff (Executive Vice President – Signal Group), Sam Walseth (Vice President – Capitol Hill Associates), and Todd Rapp (President & CEO – Rapp Strategies).
With over 140 attendees, the webinar highlighted specifics of the American Rescue Plan, demonstrated what the steps to apply for federal funding will look like, discussed how to communicate information about these improvements and funding to attendees’ communities, and outlined acceptable funding uses. Tim Lutz, Superintendent of ISD 31 (Bemidji Area Schools), summed up our webinar best by saying, “Fantastic presentation, everyone! Looking forward to joining the next ones!”
ICS will be hosting more of these webinars in the coming months — each one dedicated to a different topic about the funding plan.
However, if you have any questions about this federal funding, the webinar series, or want to talk to an ICS representative about what steps you need to take right now, simply go to www.ics-builds.com/stimulus and fill out a short form.
