Project Details:
ICS, in partnership with ISG, CMTA, Ebert Construction, and Sandman Structural Engineers, was hired to provide comprehensive planning and construction management services for a transformed facility to house the Pine County Vision Program. Brought to life by a collaborative effort of three school boards, three facilities committees, five superintendents, and the St. Croix River Education District (SCRED), this former grocery store has a renewed purpose in helping students grow.
In 2016, SCRED and three of its six member districts, East Central, Hinckley-Finlayson, and Pine City Public Schools, began exploring the possibility of opening a Pine County Education Center. The original version of this project included relocating three existing shared programs spread across Pine County under one roof. In 2017, our team was brought in to further explore this concept by determining space needs, potential building sites, and funding options. After a brief holding period, the project was renewed and the former Chris’ Food Center became vacant. Our team assisted in purchasing the facility and, ultimately, managed the construction of the project.
The new facility provides a collaborative learning environment for students with emotional or behavioral needs. From a life skills lab and outdoor playground to flexible classrooms and learning spaces, students in the Pine County area now have the spaces they need to learn and grow.
