Lake Superior School District

Project Details:

In November 2021, Lake Superior School District residents approved $44.1 million to expand educational spaces and make critical infrastructure upgrades at both William Kelley School and Minnehaha Elementary, as well as various updates at Two Harbors High School.

This project featured the following improvements across the following district’s facilities:

William Kelley School

  • Relocate the main office to create a secured entrance.
  • Improve the woods and metals area to improve power access and ventilation for modern equipment.
  • Renovate and expand the district’s bus garages in Silver Bay and Two Harbors.
  • Various deferred maintenance items, including security, LED lighting, boiler replacement, tuckpointing, roofing, asbestos removal, kitchen equipment replacement, locker rooms, ADA accessibility, and more.

Minnehaha Elementary

  • Renovate and expand the school to serve PreK through grade 5 students to provide appropriate learning spaces.
  • Renovate all classrooms to improve technology, storage, and lighting.
  • Build a new 9,000 SF addition to include a cafeteria, kitchen, and two classrooms to alleviate congestion, expand learning spaces, and right-size other spaces.
  • Move the main entrance to the southern part of the building to create an appropriately-sized main office adjacent to the secure vestibule.
  • Various deferred maintenance items, including security, LED lighting, roofing, exterior doors, building systems, tuckpointing, and more.

Two Harbors High School
